ANATOMY OF EMBODIED ECOLOGIES
Camille Dunlop

Anatomy of Embodied Ecologies is a live, ever-shifting digital landscape, a responsive world that transforms with the presence of the human body. It explores the representation of reimagined ecosystems, specifically attuned to the ecology and architecture of the Medway Estuary and the layered histories of the surrounding Hoo Fort. The project emerged from historical research in Medway Archives and Historic Dockyard Archives, delving into maps and drawings of the region’s shifting architectures and ecologies.
Using motion capture, the piece positions the body as both participant and disruptor within an alternative form of mapping. Moving through the world the interactions trouble the often quiet of digital terrains, provoking reflection on our influence over environments both virtual and real. It asks: can we harness the ephemeral qualities of real-time engines, in time, space, and movement, to deepen our connection to, dependence with, and understanding of the natural world?
