WAYSIDE WEEDS - FLOWERS ON THE EDGE
Cas Holmes

Artist and author Cas Holmes is interested in the liminal, ‘in between’ spaces connecting land, people and place.
Textile artists have always used re-cycled and re-used materials and recently, given the current financial climate, the practice has become even more popular.
The often 'hidden edges' of our landscape whilst not ‘lovely’ or less obviously ’useful’ are important wildlife habitats. Local wild spaces and woods in spring are favoured walking space, and the verges on the side of the roads are part of the green lung of in the increasingly built up regions, providing important migratory paths for insect, animals and birds.
Her artwork on display features her interpretation of the Wayside Weeds, these 'flowers' on the edges of our vision as we hurry along our routeways and roads soften our vision and provide a viable habitat for plants and wildlife.
